Storytime Programs - Fall I, 2016 - Week Five

Welcome to the fifth week of Fall I storytime programs.  In addition to our weekly storytimes, there are numerous special events happening so be sure to check our Events Calendar http://gailbweb.gailborden.info/evanced/lib/eventcalendar.asp, give us a call, or stop by the desk in the Early Learning Center if you would like more information.  We hope that you'll be joining us.   Below you will find some of the books, rhymes, and fingerplays we are presenting this week.

Babies On The Move by Canizares

Action Rhyme: Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.
Rock, rock, rock your boat, (rock baby on lap)
Gently to and fro.
Look out, give a shout,
In the water you go. (gently drop baby between your knees)

Rhymes and songs that involve movements such as swaying, bouncing, and rocking help children develop balance.

Who doesn't love to paint, use crayons, glue, and cut?  Provide your toddler with age appropriate opportunities to practice these skills at home, or come to the library and make the craft together at the counter in the Early Learning Center.  The fine motor skills needed to complete these activities are essential for your child's development.
