Storytime Programs - Summer 2016, Week Eight

Welcome to the final week of of our summer storytimes.  We hope you and your child have had as much fun as we have!  It's hard to believe that Fall I storytimes will be starting soon - the week of August 22.  For those storytimes requiring registration, the first day to register is August 8.  In addition to our weekly storytimes, there are numerous special events happening so be sure to check our Events Calendar http://gailbweb.gailborden.info/evanced/lib/eventcalendar.asp, give us a call, or stop by the desk in the Early Learning Center if you would like more information.

Below you will find some of the books, rhymes, and fingerplays we are presenting this week.

Tiny Tales  (For babies 0-23 months and an adult caregiver)

Books
Scrubba Dub by Van Laan

Action Rhyme: Here I Have A Big Balloon
Here I have a big balloon,
Watch me while I blow.
Small at first, then bigger,
Watch it grow and grow.  (Expand arms)
Do you think it’s big enough?
Maybe I should stop.
For if I blow much longer,
My balloon will surely pop! (Big clap!)

At home repeat this rhyme slowly and pause at the end of each line to build suspense! Blending the expected continuation of the rhyme with the unexpected pauses lays the foundation for humor.  So don't be surprised if your baby reacts with smiles and giggles, especially with the big clap at the end!

Starry Time Stories (For children 2 years -Kindergarten with adult caregiver)

This week Fun with Favorite Friends was offered in place of Starry Time Stories. Our customers celebrated their favorite characters with games and activities by visiting our drop-in stations.

We hope you and your child enjoyed Starry Time Stories this summer.  You've been a wonderful audience for our programs!  If you'd like to watch our puppet shows again, click on the following link Nedrob Puppet Shows
