Story Mix for Three to Six: Yummy Yummy in my Tummy

This week's Story Mix class was full of wonderful tasty treats, including these two rhymes!  The repetition in the rhymes allows children to understand sounds and develop phonological awareness.  Being able to hear and play with the smaller sounds in words is essential to learning larger words and increasing vocabulary.

While reading the stories together, encourage conversation between you and your child.  Talking about favorite foods and mealtimes help children not only understand personal preferences, but also helps them understand what is being read.  Be sure to take turns when having a conversation, as it's important for children to learn how to listen to a question and have a response.
